Positive: Well located property, two hours from Leticia by boat, and we were grateful for the staff picking us up and dropping us off at the boat. Well kept grounds and a solid breakfast.

Negative: 1) there is a treehouse. We would have loved to have stayed there. Unfortunately there was no public information about it; ask Zoraida if you are interested 2) Avoid the walk through the Peruvian reserve. This was overpriced, with an additional charge for lunch, and really not worth it. We were disappointed that Carlos, the activities coordinator, suggested this for our family. Isla de Micos would have been better 3) there is a 6 percent fee for using credit card. Again, never communicated to us in advance of the visit 4) dinner is not bad; unfortunately it is not particularly good either. I hope the hotel continues to invest in better food, especially since guests are charged 25.000 cop per person for each dinner. 5) it is unreasonable and unfortunate that the lodge charges for kayak use without a guide. 6) the lodge would also benefit from having drinks for purchase; I would have loved a cold beer or a Coca Cola Zero. 7) make sure to ask, in advance, if your room has a shared or private bathroom. 8) also ask, in advance, about the list of tours. Stay on the water during the day whenever possible. Lake Tarapoto and the pink dolphin watching are a touristy highlight. All told, Zoraida tries really hard and has kept this lodge in business for many years. I hope however that she continues to try to improve it, because there are a lot of areas where it can be better.

Positive: We had a wonderful stay at Eware. Carlos and his family did everything to make our stay comfortable and to help us make the most out of our time in the Amazonas. The facilities are basic but comfortable. Everything is kept very clean and the food is delicious. Eware is well-located, nestled among the jungle. It's a 5-minute boat ride or lovely 30-minute walk to Puerto Nariño.

Positive: Carlos and Zoraida gave me such a warm welcome, I felt at home before I even arrived. Zoraida met me at Puerto Nariño and we travelled onto the hotel together (it’s another ten minutes by boat). Don’t be put off by this- Carlos arranged boat transportation when I needed it, and one time when I was in puerto Nariño and needed to get back to the hotel, there were boat taxis for only 5000 pesos (around 1 euro) to take me back. Alternatively, you can walk 25 minutes (partly through the rainforest) if you’re feeling adventurous! Staying here was probably the most connected to nature I’ve felt since I was a child. The setting is truly stunning and being on the Amazon river is a unique experience I’ll never forget. Coming back to the hotel via boat at around 5:15pm revealed sunsets like none I’ve ever seen before. The bed was very comfortable and the fan in my room kept the temperature very pleasant. Carlos also arranged a tour of a nearby village where I was able to see sloths in their natural habitats. Overall, I felt extremely welcome in this place and will remember it for the rest of my life.

Negative: Not the fault of the hotel, but as someone who is a bit nervous around insects, I did wish that the bedroom window was more substantial. It keeps big insects out but small flies can get in. If you keep the light off at night this helps a lot. I also think the hotel would benefit from a small shop or bar - I would’ve paid for snacks or drinks throughout the day if they’d been available.

Positive: Quiet stay near the river/lake, nice food (different preparation each day), great tours with nice guides.

Negative: The (bath)room was a bit smelly, but as you are in the middle of the jungle, don’t expect any luxury. The staff pays attention to the premises, but we felt the whole was a bit ran down and could need some freshening up.

Positive: Simple but comfortable stay outside of town. Carlos was very helpful in arranging excursions but also in helping with booking the boat from Leticia. Great to have a pool to cool down after a long hike.

Negative: The lock on the female bathroom didn’t work so the cleaning lady walked in on me half naked.
